An interesting post from Tim Bray in which he presents two pictures and asks "Which do you like?" Feeling a bit down on the day so decided to try an breathe in some spark by answering Tim's question, with a bit of explanation as to why.
Why am I feeling down?
I'm not feeling down as in depression, but down in frustration and disbelief that we (and I don't exclude myself from the "we") have become a nation in which spends a majority of our days and our nights looking for fault in the lives of other people, and can't seem to realize that the fault falls onto the shoulders of those in whom obsess themselves/ourselves with finding this fault, no matter what, even if that means we have to find ways to make things seem and feel true, even when its just as much a possibility that they're not.
It just doesn't make any sense to me anymore.
Why is it that we can't disconnect ourselves for long enough to stop, look around, and realize we live in a beautiful world where exists lots of good things to do with our time, and good people to meet and build relationships with, and yet we seem to instead live our lives completely separated from reality and in fact obsess ourselves in "Finding out the truth!"
You want to know the truth?
Okay.
We have the ability to live a life filled with good, happy things. This opportunity is a gift given to us by millions and millions of lives of other people who believed that us, there descendants, would live in a better world because of this sacrifice.
But nobody seems to care. Instead we choose to let media live our lives for us. The sad thing is that its not their fault! We choose this! Its our choice to live in a state of mindless nothing, when instead we could be enjoying things like this:
Then, up on top of that white tower, there’s this Big Gold Guy, officially the Oregon Capitol Pioneer. It turns that you can read about Gilding Oregon Capitol Pioneer (cool site, and I like this one) and I got two pictures, one each against blue sky and grey.
You'll need to visit Tim Bray's post linked above to see the pictures for yourself, but for what its worth, these are the two senses I felt when I looked at each of these pics, with a brief explanation as to why.
[Pic:1] Decision
It seems to me that the gray background adds a sense of indecision, and the angle and stature of the individual represented seems to suggest that a point has been reached in which a decision must be made as to which direction to choose.
[Pic:2] Achievement
With the blue sky and the longer, more vertical view point (from the camera, looking up) coupled with the fact that, it seems anyway, his stature has shifted to one of confidence that his decision yielded achievement.
Which do you like?
Both are important. One couldn't exist without the other. I guess it would probably depend on the moment as to which one would bring about a greater sense of inspiration that could be applied to that moment.

Folks, life is lived from one moment to the next. Some of those moments are good. Other moments bad. Sometimes its our choice. Other times its not. When it is our choice, why do we choose to give our own lives away while we steal away other peoples lives, and then stare at our T.V.'s in "shock and horror at what those monsters have done!"
What monsters?
Oh, you mean the ones that we all created? Or the ones that live inside our own bodies and our own heads?
Are those the monsters you are referring to?
Yeah, your right, look at what "we monsters have done."
Why don't we get this?
Folks, it seems we have our own decision to make.
What's it going to be?
Blue sky's and achievement.
Or gray skys and doubt?
It's time to make a decision. I hope we make the right one.

Just in case, please email me any comments you would like to add and I will add them to the bottom of this post.
