If nothing else, it seems interesting... I'm not a Zope user/developer so I am unsure as to what this really means to someone who is... Anyone care to comment?

XSLTAL is not targeted at Zope users, as they have all they need for TAL already. It is a partial reimplementation of the TAL templating syntax which requires only an XSLT processor to run.
Cocoon (http://cocoon.apache.org) will include XSLTAL in the 2.1.8 release, for now it can be tested from the subversion repository code , see http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=xml-cocoon-dev&m=112201810707348&w=2
