Big Win. Interesting Product. Is hardware acceleration the answer?

            • Fox Sports Interactive Media Selects Sarvega’s XML Speedway Accelerator for FOXSports.com on MSN

If it is the answer it would probably be good to know what the question is. Not sure there actually is a question beyond the obvious: What is this and why does it matter? Don’t get me wrong, the product, The Sarvega Speedway XSLT Accelerator, sounds - well, its sounds >>>—FAST—> But I’m having a hard time getting past the advertising (even the above link to the press release re-routes you to a Yahoo style > STOP > LOOK > & CLICK BEFORE PRECEDING > Advertisement < before it “allows” you to look any further.) I have to wonder why when I am forced to first stop and look at an ad before being allowed to view a press release. Maybe its just a case of a nervous web exec who has let his TV exec friends scare him into getting all he can get before the the TiVo Effect hits the web. Or maybe this is the TiVo effect hitting the web… I’m not letting myself think too hard about it as its really not all that important. If the fact that I had to click an extra link to get to to the place I wanted to go was really getting to me it would probably be more of a sign that a career change is mandatory than a sign of some devious advertising campaign designed to rip me of my pride and self worth before leaving me cold, desolate, penniless, and shivering… oh and with nothing to eat as well. Ok, heres the real reason I’m using all these stupid metaphors and rediculous conspiracy theory stories… Cause they’re more fun to write than is the fact that when I went to download their benchmark information, while the text left my brain assuming there would be a download link to click my eyes (and as such I guess my brain was in on this as well) were telling me there isn’t a download link within 10 PHP servers of this page… Am I just missing something or is it Sarvega thats missing something? Anyway, all marketing mumbo-jumbo aside this seems like a very interesting product and I’m glad to see it make a big splash (although the splash may have been superimposed in the editing room; too early to tell at this point) with a big company like Fox Sports. But I am itching for something tangible to play with beyond the hype that exists in its place. Don’t tell me… Show me! Thoughts anybody?

              • XSLT acceleration is a growing field. We’ve had a benchmark tool out for years (search for xsltmark). And if you’ve got particular performance questions, drop me a line and we can simulate a few runs for you.
